For Lodges of the International Organization of Good Templars
Used with permission of the National Council of IOGT-USA (***Not currently used - for historical significance only.***) Edited for the Internet by Brent B. Installation Ceremony
[The C.T. surrenders the chair to the Installing
Officer. The Installing Officer may be the I.C.T., the N.G.C.T. or the
G.C.T. When neither of these officers is present, the L.D. or some other
Deputy should perform the installation. In the absence of, or at the
special request of the L.D., this duty may be transferred to some other
officer of the District or Grand Lodge. The Installing Officer should
have previously ascertained that the quarterly, semi-annual or annual
returns have been delivered and that the per capita tax has been paid
to the proper authority.]
Installing Officer We are about
to install the officers elected and appointed to this lodge. All officers
will now vacate their chairs, (leaving their regalia, if used) and all
newly elected officers will take their place of office as the secretary
calls the names and titles. (The Secretary calls the names and titles of
the newly elected and appointed officers and each one goes to his post
and remains standing. The Secretary will do this allowing plenty of time
for each officer to arrive at his post.)
We are happy that you have placed yourselves in the service
of your lodge. Your work will, perhaps, many times be heavy but we are convinced
that this opportunity to serve a great cause will help you over the difficulties.
If you work with the thought of the greatness of our goal before you, you will
find it not only gives you strength but you will also receive gifts of happiness
and satisfaction. The trust that this lodge has placed in you is accompanied by
a willingness to help you in your work, and a belief that you will do all you
can to make this lodge prosper during your term of office.
I ask each of you, are you willing to do your best to discharge
the duties of your respective offices? If you thus promise, answer "I do".
(Officers answer accordingly.)
I now declare you duly installed as officers of this lodge of
the International Organization of Good Templars. (All officers, except the C.T.
will clothe themselves with the regalia of their office).
Chief Templar, you are the presiding officer of this lodge. The
success of the lodge depends to a great extent upon your ability and enthusiasm.
I now (invest you with the regalia and) welcome you to the highest office in
this lodge.

Brother (Sister) ........................accept the gavel which
is the symbol of your authority. The elected officers cannot alone do everything
that will be demanded of them for the success of the lodge. While inspiration and
leadership are expected of you, the help of everyone is needed to accomplish the
purposes of the International Organization of Good Templars. Work together in
harmony and may success be the result of your united efforts.

[The C.T. may make a few remarks if he chooses, and then proceed
to the Order of Business. Appointment of Standing Committees and then proceed to
Item #12.]
